Meet the Director

Robin Adams is the director and lead instructor of Digital Literacy Rocks! She has over 25 years of combined experience in both for-profit and non-profit sectors in different industries.  She spent 15 years in adult literacy, work readiness and self-sufficiency program planning and staff development.

Robin is passionate about this work. Once you speak to her and tell her your goals, they become hers too.

Natalie Woodard (Interim President) is a passionate advocate for child and adult education having volunteered in school PTA activities and local non-profit adult literacy programs over the years. These experiences gave her a deep appreciation of grass-root efforts to provide educational awareness and opportunities to under-served communities.  A recently retired Chevron Operations Manager, she has lead problem-solving teams and worked in engineering, regulatory, health, safety, environmental compliance, quality management, risk analysis, auditing and process improvement facilitation over her 30-year career. Natalie has a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University and lives in Castro Valley with her husband James. Natalie is actively engaged in planning and coordinating fund-development options to increase financial and in-kind resources for the organization.

Barbara Bowen (Secretary) is an independent Literacy Consultant. A former public school educator in all grades K-12 as well as community college and adult education.  She brings years of experience to curriculum planning, instruction, assessments and teacher training. She holds a Master of Science in Reading Education, and has (for 36 years) instructed students of all ages in New York, Maryland and Rhode Island.  She contracts with state and regional programs for literacy development, and makes time for a number of personal interests including gardening, traveling and church.
